OFFICIAL RULES
“Best DECKorated Holiday Deck Contest”
(“Contest”)
SPONSOR.
The Contest is sponsored by Prince William Home Improvement (“Sponsor”), 14843 Persistence Drive, Woodbridge VA 22191
1. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open only to legal residents of Virginia or Maryland, who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry, and who are current or former residential customers of Sponsor whose eligible outdoor living project (deck, patio, screen room, or any combination thereof) was built by Sponsor (“Eligible Project”).
Employees, officers, and directors of Sponsor, its affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate family members (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each are not eligible to enter or win.
Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
2. CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest begins on December 11, 2025 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on December 21, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”). Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Contest.
3. HOW TO ENTER
During the Contest Period, an eligible entrant must:
- Decorate their Eligible Project (any theme is permitted).
- Take a real photograph (no AI-generated or AI-altered images; see Section 4) of the decorated outdoor living space.
- Visit the official Contest webpage at https://pwhomeimprovement.com/deckorated (the “Contest Site”) and complete the online entry form by:
- Uploading the photo of the Eligible Project;
- Providing entrant’s first and last name;
- Providing the project address where the Eligible Project is located; and
- Providing a valid email address for contact;
- Checking any required box indicating agreement to these Official Rules.
Limit one (1) entry per household for the entire Contest Period. Multiple entries from the same household may result in disqualification of all related entries, in Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Entries will not be accepted by mail, email, social media, or any method other than submission through the official online entry form at the Contest Site. No purchase beyond the prior purchase of an Eligible Project is required to enter.
4. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
By submitting a photo through the online entry form, you represent and warrant that:
- You personally took the photo or otherwise own all rights in it.
- The photo depicts an Eligible Project built by Sponsor.
- The photo is an honest, unmanipulated depiction of a real decorated outdoor living space and is not generated, enhanced, or substantially modified by any artificial intelligence or image-synthesis software or service.
- The photo does not infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party.
- If other people (including children) appear in the photo, you have obtained all necessary permissions from them (or, in the case of minors, from their parent or legal guardian) for Sponsor’s use of the photo as described in these Official Rules.
- The photo does not contain any obscene, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate content, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry that, in its sole discretion, does not comply with these requirements or the spirit of the Contest.
5. JUDGING AND WINNER SELECTION
All eligible entries received during the Contest Period will be judged by a panel of employees of Prince William Home Improvement selected by Sponsor (the “Judges”). The Judges will evaluate entries based on the following skill-based criteria (“Judging Criteria”):
- Overall Aesthetic Appeal (visual impact, composition);
- Creativity of Decoration (originality, cleverness);
- Effective Use of the Outdoor Living Space (how the décor enhances the deck/patio/screen room).
The Judges will assign a score to each entry based on the Judging Criteria, and the entries will be ranked from highest to lowest total score. The entry with the highest score will be deemed the potential First Prize Winner, the second-highest score the Second Prize Winner, and the third-highest score the Third Prize Winner, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.
In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-judged by the Judges, and the entry with the highest re-score will be selected. All judging decisions of Sponsor and the Judges are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.
6. PRIZES
There are three (3) prizes available:
- First Prize: One (1) winner will receive $500 (USD), awarded by check.
- Second Prize: One (1) winner will receive $250 (USD), awarded by check.
- Third Prize: One (1) winner will receive $150 (USD), awarded by check.
Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of all prizes: $900 (USD).
Limit one (1) prize per household. No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reason. Winners are solely responsible for any and all federal, state, and local taxes and any other costs or expenses associated with prize acceptance and use.
7. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION
Potential winners will be notified on or about December 23, 2025 using the email address and/or phone number provided on the online entry form. Sponsor may require winners to confirm eligibility and provide any information reasonably necessary to verify previous or current customer status and project address.
If a potential winner (a) cannot be contacted; (b) does not respond within five (5) business days of the first notification attempt; (c) is found to be ineligible; or (d) fails to comply with these Official Rules, the potential winner may forfeit the prize, and Sponsor may select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries, in Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Prizes will be sent to winners via check mailed to the address provided after verification.
8. RIGHTS GRANTED BY ENTRANTS
By entering, you agree that:
- You own the submission and you give Sponsor and its affiliates a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and create derivative works from the photo, together with your name and city/state of residence, in any media now known or later developed, for lawful purposes related to Sponsor’s advertising, marketing, and promotion. You understand that this permission is granted without any further notice, approval, or compensation, and that you still retain ownership of your photo.
- You waive any right of inspection or approval of any use of the photo and any right to royalties or other compensation with respect to such use.
You understand and agree that Sponsor may crop, edit, or otherwise modify submitted photos, provided such modifications do not materially misrepresent the underlying project.
9. PUBLICITY
Except where prohibited by law, entry into the Contest constitutes your consent to Sponsor’s use of your name, likeness, city and state of residence, and information about your Eligible Project in connection with announcing winners and promoting the Contest and Sponsor’s services, without additional compensation.
10. GENERAL CONDITIONS
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest if fraud, technical failures, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, or if the Contest cannot be conducted as planned for any other reason. In such event, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, select winners from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the action taken.
Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. RELEASE AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating, you agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to:
(a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest;
(b) technical errors related to computers, servers, providers, or telephone or network lines;
(c) printing, typographical, or other errors in any Contest-related materials;
(d) late, lost, misdirected, or undeliverable communications; and
(e) claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy related to Sponsor’s permitted uses of photos and entrant information.
In no event will Sponsor be liable for attorney’s fees, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, or any damages other than actual out-of-pocket expenses.
12. DISPUTES; GOVERNING LAW
Except where prohibited, you agree that:
- Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and
- Shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules.
You agree that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to the Contest shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you hereby consent and submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
13. PRIVACY
Information collected from entrants in connection with the Contest, including through the online entry form, is subject to Sponsor’s privacy practices. By entering, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information by Sponsor for the purposes of administering the Contest and for the other purposes described in these Official Rules.
14. WINNERS LIST
The first name, last initial, and city/state of each winner may be posted on Sponsor’s website and/or social media channels after the Contest ends. You may also request information about the winners by contacting Sponsor at info@pwhomeimprovement.com within 30 days after winners are announced.
